Case Citation in Legal Research

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Case Citation in Legal Research What is case citation? It is a system that is followed by the common law countries like the US, Canada India, and the UK. In this system whenever legal / litigation related research is done, past court cases have to be located in a series of law reports which are available in accumulated bounded volumes. Legal research is all about identifying and retrieving information necessary to support legal decision-making. Thus, case citations are used by the law professionals to claim strength to their cases and the law. Case citations usually contain,

Case title

Volume number

Page number

Year of decision
For example, in the United States case citation is followed according to the following format: John v. Bob, 510 U.S. 121 (1977).

Here John is the plaintiff, and Bob is the defendant. 510 refer to the volume of the law report. The number 121 is the page number in the volume. The year of decision of the case, 1977, is indicated inside the brackets.

Actually during legal research, deciphering of legal citations and its creation can be very challenging and time consuming. Hence quite often this work may be outsourced to professional legal research outsource providers. One can refer to the private online services research portals like LexisOne and Westlaw and then choose/prepare legal citations. In this context the hotter the cited case, the better. There are basically both proprietary and public domain citation systems. The Bluebook is a public domain Uniform System of Citation style guide and is the widely used legal citation system in the United States.

Law of Attraction – Money, Love, Cars – Can You Really Attract Them Into Your Life?

Law of Attraction - Money, Love, Cars - Can You Really Attract Them Into Your Life? Many writers claim that we can create our own reality using the law of attraction. Money, relationships, jobs – in fact anything you desire – can be brought into your life using simple techniques.

But if it’s so easy, why are so many people unable to make the law of attraction work? And if it really is as easy as a lot of people claim, why isn’t everyone using it and creating the life they want? You’ve read the books, you’ve watched the movies, you’ve done the exercises. So why has nothing changed?

It is true that the vibrations you put out into the world will attract people, things and circumstances which resonate with your own vibrations.

But the key which is often overlooked in teachings which advocate the law of attraction, is that we create at four different levels and only when all four are working in harmony can we attract what we really want.

What are the four levels?

• The conscious level
• The subconscious level
• The unconscious level
• The soul level

The conscious level is obvious – you want a new car, you think about it, perhaps you save for it or someone gives you their old car. But somehow, a car shows up in your life.

The subconscious level is the level at which you are aware of certain fears and insecurities but are unwilling to look at them. It’s a bit like having a closet full of junk and you are pushing on the door to keep it shut. You know the fear is there, but you’ve put the lid on it.

The flat out unconscious level is more deeply buried and it’s the place where you keep the fears you have blocked out completely, such as forgotten childhood traumas.

The soul level is the level at which your soul creates the circumstances it wants to experience.

You can probably see quite clearly why the law of attraction may not be working in your own life now. But how can you change that? How can you get all four levels of creation to work in harmony?

If you want to create more consciously, you need to move things up to the conscious level. This means opening the closet, looking at the fears and asking yourself why you are afraid. Simply asking the question why and when you have an answer asking why again until you get to the root of the fear will bring it to your conscious awareness.

Creating what you want at the soul level comes about when you allow yourself to experience insight from your soul. You do this by getting the past and the future out of the way, focusing on the moment and receiving the aha from your soul. It comes through your mind, but you can’t get there by thinking.

The Secret Law of Attraction Tips That No One is Telling You

The Secret Law of Attraction Tips That No One is Telling YouHave you read many of the secret law of attraction tips out there only to find that the techniques just don’t work for you?

Using the law of attraction is an effective way to change your life, but only if you are doing it correctly. If it just isn’t working for you, it is possible that you are making one simple mistake and that mistake is manifesting from lack. Here are 3 tips to help you manifest from abundance instead.

Tip #1 Change Your Perspective

Let’s take an example, and since most people could do with more money, we’ll choose an increased income as your desired outcome. The first thing to do is to ask yourself why you want more money. A common response is “I don’t want to be poor any longer”. However, if you take a closer look at that statement you will notice that the key word is poor. If you want to attract wealth, you do not want to emanate poverty, because what you emanate, is what will come back to you. So instead say something like, ” I want to have more money so that I can go on vacation and take good care of myself.”

Tip#2 Change Your Habitual Response

Your first reaction to a challenging financial situation, such as a large credit card bill, is usually to worry that you can’t pay it and to think that you never have enough money for your bills. If you stick with your first reaction, you will only attract more poverty. So you should ask yourself if you can look at the situation differently.

Look at what you bought with your credit card. Have you enjoyed using the items or benefited from the services you paid for? Of course you have. If you had to pay for a repair to your car, you now have a safe, functioning vehicle to get you from A to B.

It’s the same with household bills. You have enjoyed using electricity to cook, enable you to see after dark, to watch TV and listen to music. You have used the phone and internet to keep in touch with friends, find information you need and provide you with entertainment. Your rent or mortgage payments have provided a roof over you head.

So instead of complaining about your credit card or household bills, be grateful for what they have enabled you to do. Being grateful for your credit bill is quite a shift isn’t it?

Tip #3 Recognize Abundance

You may think there is very little abundance in your life, but you can always find something. Even if you don’t have much money, a big house or a fancy car, you have abundance in many areas. You may have an abundance of friends, and you probably have an abundance of water to drink and food to eat.

You have an abundance of weather and even if it happens to be rain at the moment, an abundance of rain gives you water to drink, green fields and colourful flowers to enjoy and grows the food that you will eat.

If you can’t find anything else, you have an abundance of air. So you can breath in abundance every minute of every day.

When you recognize the abundance you do have and start to appreciate it, you will attract more abundance into your life.
